Apparently, she also asked "Alex" to help come up with the name. "Golden Paradise Tangerine" can be shortened to "G.P.T.", which is sort of clever.
Brew day for this beer was Saturday.
We got a ton of snow on Thursday into Friday in the Denver area, so we were not sure if we'd have to brew in the garage, but by the time we started, the patio was clear enough to brew out back.
So, we did it there.
We didn't really get started until around 9AM, which is really late in the day compared my usual brew day start. Usually I'm pretty much done by 9.
But, the Beer Model doesn't really do early-morning.
Regardless, we got going. For the most part things went as usual for Brew Days.
For some reason, our pre-boil gravity was really low. I might have added a little too much water to the mash, but I think maybe our mash efficiency might have suffered with such a high percentage of wheat in the recipe.
Anyway, we decided to add about a pound of DME to get the gravity up to plan.
Other than that, everything basically went to plan.
We didn't get the yeast pitched until almost 1:30 pm. I'm really not used to finishing up so late.
Oh well.
I did get a short bike ride in Saturday afternoon. The Beer Model didn't really want to .
Fermentation was bubbling the next day. I sort of expect "we" will keg this coming weekend, but I guess we'll see.
I'm sure the Beer Model will like the beer.
Chances are pretty good, you'll find out what we think of the beer if you follow along on this blog.
