A week or two ago ... "Joe" at Groovy Guy Gifts emailed me. He wanted to know if I would be willing to write a product review on the blog in exchange for a free personalized gift.
I like free. Personalized gifts are cool. Sometimes I type things into a blog. Yes, I was willing.
Based on the content of this blog, he suggested that I might like one of the following ...
- Personalized Bottle Opener
- Personalized Growler Cooler
- Personalized 16oz Gunmetal Beer Mug
- Personalized 18oz Giant Beer Mug
He was correct. I liked all those items. I was also very interested in several other items on the website.
Pretty much everything in the "Bar & Drinking Gifts" section.
Most of the "All Gifts" section too.
It was difficult to choose, but eventually, I decided to have "Joe" send me a Big Slug Mug (aka Personalized 18oz Giant Beer Mug).
I think it looks cool.
Especially with "SheppyBrew Home Brew" engraved on it.
So, "Joe" shipped one out to me. I got it late last Thursday. Doesn't it look beautiful with my Home Brewed PBR in it?
I used the mug quite a bit over the weekend. I like the way it feels in my hand. The handle shape allows for my larger-than-normal-sized hands, and the glass feels more sturdy than your typical shaker glass. The Ferdinand Mug isn't a style of glassware I've really noticed before, but I really like the look.
The mug isn't really "giant" as the email description named it, but it is a little bigger than your typical pint glass. I verified that the glass holds 18 ounces of water using a measuring cup. I really like the extra couple of ounces when pouring from my homebrew kegs. The glass feels a little empty when pouring from a 12 ounce can or bottle, but that is fine.
I really like the font that the engraving uses. I think the personalized text adds something a little extra to your beer glass.
If I have one complaint on the mug, it is that the engraving is a bit faint and hard to read in certain light when there is beer in the glass.
There also isn't an indication on the site whether this is dish-washer safe. I generally hand wash my home glassware, so it doesn't matter to me, but I think it should be indicated on the site.
I'm not sure what else to say about the glass itself. It does its job and I think it looks awesome. I really enjoy having it as part of my glassware collection.
Since I got my mug free, my personal experience probably isn't a great indicator of customer service or speedy shipping, but for what it is worth, my communications with the company were awesome and the mug got to me in a timely manner.
Reading through comments on the site, I do see people praising the level of customer service and quick turnaround. I didn't find any negative comments on the various products I looked at.
So, if you want to get someone a cool personalized gift, check out Groovy Guy Gifts.
Tell them Sheppy sent you.
