Back in June we were flying through Round 6.
We had just posted N is for North River Brewery (RiNo), which is more than half-way through the alphabet.
This after only 7 months from posting A is for Arms, Call To Brewing Company, the beginning of Round 6.
Then, for whatever reason we inexplicitly stopped for several months.
I'm not sure why this happened, but there's always a woman to blame, so it must be the Beer Model's fault.
Anyway ... last Saturday, the Beer Model allowed us to pack a lunch to hit the next brewery on our list ...
O is for Odell Brewing 5 Points
Odell Brewing 5 Points is located on the corner of 30th & Larimer in Denver’s historic Five Points neighborhood, enjoy outdoor patios, firepits, and one of the many Five Points exclusive beers brewed onsite with their 10-barrel pilot system.
We got a couple of flights, mostly of 5-points-only beers ...
- Doug Lite ... Light, easy, refreshing American Light Lager.
- Orange Sun Wit ... Classic Belgian wit brewed with orange peel and coriander.
- Ardense Bossen ... Classic Farmhouse saison with clove and bubblegum notes.
- Zoom Call Modern IPA ... Light in color, no haze, juicy and easy drinking.
- Billy Goat West Coast IPA ... Brewed with Billy Goat Farms Cascade and Chinook-piney and citrus vibes.
- Bee Humble Strong Honey Golden ... Smooth and creamy with a subtle honey finish
And ...
- Ales for ALS Hazy IPA ... Hazy IPA. $1 from each pint goes to the ALS Foundation.
- Slow Water IPA ... Brewed with fresh CTZ hops with a bright dry hop of Citra, Krush and CTZ.
- Blah Blah Juicy IPA ... Clear and juicy with notes of apricot, peach and melon
- Criss Cross IPA ... Juicy, hoppy and brewed with a splash of apple juice
- Oh Snap! Double Gingerbread Porter ... Brewed with gingerbread spices, molasses and brown sugar.
- Kernel Mexican Style Lager ... Smooth and easy brewed with Colorado grown corn
The beers were all good. You can imagine that there were a couple I liked less than the others and ones that the Beer Model liked less.
But all were loved by one or both of us.
I'd certainly like to head down here at some other point. I like this area of Denver and there are actually quite a few breweries we could hit in one shot. Maybe when family is visiting.
Actually, it is perfect for cycling to, but we didn't because it was too cold for the Beer Model.
Anyway ... if you find yourself in 5 Points / River North of Denver, add this place to breweries worth visiting.
I don't think we'll wait another 6 months before we hit a "P" brewery. I actually have one in mind. We'll just have to see if the Beer Model allows me to go.
Keep an eye on Sheppy's Blog: A to Z, and you'll find out when / if we go.
As always ...keep an eye on the regular SheppyBrew Channels to see what is happening with beer, barbeque, biking and other things in my life: SheppyBrew's Facebook Page; Sheppy's Twitter Feed; SheppyBrew's Instagram Page; and SheppyBrew's Website.
