2021 Q2 SheppyBrew Stats

Q2 of 2021 is already over, which means its time to report our brewing stats for the year so far.

I didn't brew quite the ridiculous amount that I brewed last quarter, but still quite a bit.

I brewed 6 batches and 31 gallons of beer.

I'm not nearly on the same pace of last year's total, but I am on pace for the 2nd most batches and gallons I've ever brewed. Currently, I'm on pace for about 140 gallons in 2021.

As I type this, my beloved Blackhawks are in 6th place in the Central Division of the NHL.

At this point, they are 7 points out of the playoffs, and I have not seen anything that makes me optimistic that they'll make up that gap.

I'm doing my part, but I'm just one person, and years and years of being a Blackhawk fan have proven that my efforts are not enough without a great team out there on the ice.

I miss those years when the Hawks won 3 Stanley Cups in 6 years.

Sigh.

But, never say never. I won't give up quite yet.

SheppyBrew 2016 Year-End Brewing Stats

As you may know, the Brewery likes to post quarterly updates on how much we have brewed. You can see all these updates (including the one you are reading right now) by following this link: Sheppy's Blog: Brew Stats.

Just as I started writing this blog post, I noticed that in 2016 Q3 SheppyBrew Stats, I said ...

"Q3 of 2016 at the SheppyBrew Brewery, we only brewed one batch of beer."

However, I wrote that before Q3 was over. I must have been thinking that September was part of Q4. So, I actually brewed a few more beers in Q3.

• Blending Kölsch
• Will-o'-Wisp Pumpkin Ale
• Falling Leaves Autumn Saison

So, I lied to you. Sorry about that. Forgetting that September was part of Q3 transformed it from a light quarter to a pretty busy one.

Brewing Chelsea Dagger Again

Remember Chelsea Dagger?

Chelsea Dagger is the Fratellis song that gets played whenever the Blackhawks score a goal or win a game.

It is also a SheppyBrew Beer that I brewed after the Blackhawks won their 3rd Stanley Cup in 6 years.

It was one of those beers that really surprised me how much I loved it. The cluster hops really taste good in the light bodied lager.

Q3 of 2015 was another busy quarter at the Brewery. We brewed six batches:

You probably know that the Mighty Chicago Blackhawks won their 3rd Stanley Cup Championship since 2009. (coincidentally, it is also their 3rd Stanley Cup since the 1961 / 62 season)

As a Chicago Blackhawks fan, the 49 year drought (more years than I have been alive) made me sad.

As a Chicago Blackhawks fan, the 3 recent Stanley Cups make me happy. Very happy. Downright giddy, you might say.

I figured it is about time I made a tribute beer to the Stanley Cup Champions. I didn't do it in 2010 or 2013. It is about time I do it for their 2015 championship. 3rd time is a charm?

I knew immediately what I should name this tribute beer: "Chelsea Dagger".

The Blackhawks won last night thanks in part to me and my little Gnome buddy. Obviously, game 6 was on the road so they were not going to be playing Chelsea Dagger in the stadium, but I took it upon myself to play it loud whenever I thought the Blackhawks needed a lift.

It worked.

I was also sure to save some SheppyBrew Blackhawk Black for the final period. You may think that my choice of beverage has little to do with how the hockey team did, but you would be wrong. Tommy Hawk APA helped get them to the finals, and  Blackhawk Black helped push them to the championship.

I waited all my life to see the Blackhawks win a Stanley Cup. I just had to wait 3 years to see them win a 2nd. Hopefully I'll get to see several more.
