Well ... as I'm typing this, I'm not 100% sure I'm done brewing in 2024, but I think I am.
So ... I'll go ahead and type up the draft of my 2024 Brewing Stats. And when you're reading this, you probably won't know if I ended up brewing again or not because it will no longer be a draft and I will have updated based on the (potentially) last brew of the year.
Anyway ... in the 4th quarter of 2024, I brewed 5 batches of beer:
- Will-o'-Wisp Autumn Ale (no pumpkin)
- Pack o' Hooligans Stout
- X-Mas Ale 2024
- Decemberfest Lager
- Tafel Mystère Belgium Single
Will-o'-Wisp Autumn Ale (no pumpkin) |
My wife (aka the SheppyBrew Beer Model) did brew with me 4 whole times this year, making it legal to have brewed over 100 gallons. I guess we wasted those efforts.
Oh well.
Pack o' Hooligans Stout |
Of the 5 batches of beer this quarter, 2 of them (Hooligans and X-Mas) were new recipes. This means I only brewed 7 new recipes in 2024, but that was sort of "by design" since I was concentrating on brewing all my Seasonals this year.
In comparison, I brewed 14 new recipes in 2023.
I do expect to try to work on my BJCP Goal in 2025, so my plan is to do a bunch of new recipes this year.
X-Mas Ale 2024 |
Only Decemberfest was a lager this quarter, putting me at only 5 for the year. In 2023 I only did 6, so I guess 5 isn't that low. I do hope to brew more lagers in 2025, but I guess we'll see.
All these 4th quarter batches were "all grain" and all but the X-Mas Ale were done in my Anvil Foundry.
Decemberfest Lager |
Since I was concentrating mostly on making sure I brewed Seasonals, I didn't really make a whole lot of progress on the BJCP Goal in 2024, but this quarter, I did mark off 17A. British Strong Ale (X-Mas Ale) and 16A. Sweet Stout (Pack o' Hooligans) in Q4, and a total of 5 styles over the whole year.
Again, I plan to mark a bunch more off in 2025 with my Roll-a-Style beers.
I'm not real sure if I'll continue my downward trend on the amount of beer I brew over 2025. I suspect I'll be right around the 100 gallon mark plus or minus 10 or so.
