2025 Q1 SheppyBrew Stats

Here we are already in April. Time to report on the 2025 Q1 SheppyBrew Stats.

The year is flying by and I have brewed quite a bit so far this year. Last year was a down year for me, not even reaching the 100 gallons.

This year so far my brewing rate is a bit faster; I'm on pace to reach over 110 gallons this year.

In Q1, I brewed 6 batches totaling 30 gallons.

My 6 batches were:

At the time of me typing this blog post, Merida is the only of these beers that I've finished. King Fergus is fermenting. Kemosabe Quad is aging and not in the beer fridge yet.

Merida Scottish Ale

The rest are on tap, and I'm drinking them.

All 6 of these batches are brand new recipes. As you know, I'm concentrating on my Roll-a-Style List to make progress on my BJCP Goal.

Tasman Devil doesn't technically help with that BJCP Goal, but the rest certainly do.

Tasman Devil Pilsner

If I'm counting correctly, I've now brewed 83 of the 108 BJCP Styles.

Tasman Devil is also the only lager I've done so far this year. I'd really like to brew more lagers, but the Roll-a-Style List doesn't have a whole lot of them, so it might be a down year for lagers.

I do think one of my next beers is likely to be a lager.

Mardi Blonde

Mardi BlondeKemosabe Quad, and King Fergus Wee Heavy were technically not Pressure Fermentations, but I did use the pressure enabled fermenter in each of them to purge kegs while fermenting them.

Oisin Owl Irish Stout

All the beers have been all-grain. The SheppyBrew Beer Model didn't help me with any of them, so I still will need her to help me out to stay legal (assuming I stay on this over 100 gallon pace).

I have not traveled to brew yet. Big Brew Day is coming up in May, so it is likely I'll visit Doc's Brewery the first Saturday in May.

Kemosabe Quad

I'm actually planning on diverging from the Roll-a-Style List and brewing a Seasonal next. My Melting Stream Spring Saison has been brewed one less time than the other Seasonal Saisons, and I'd like to use this opportunity to let it "catch up".

Then, I'll be hitting the Roll-a-Style List more the rest of the year. As I mentioned before, I might do a few lagers as well. We'll see.

King Fergus Wee Heavy

I can't think of anything else to mention in this Q1 report, so I'll let you all go.

As always, stay tuned on the regular SheppyBrew Channels to see what is happening with beer, barbeque, biking and other things in my life: SheppyBrew's Facebook PageSheppy's Twitter FeedSheppyBrew's Instagram Page; and SheppyBrew's Website.
