It wasn't all that long ago that we posted G is for Great Divide Brewery & Roadhouse, Belmar.
Of course, as you know if you follow along on the A to Z series of posts on the blog, this meant that we need to figure out an "H" brewery to visit next.
I mentioned in G is for Great Divide Brewery that we were going to have to take "artistic license" in our "H" brewery.
There just are not any local breweries that start with the letter "H".
And ... the SheppyBrew Beer Model (aka my wife) was up to the challenge and was cleverly able to save the day with ....
H is for CHeluna Brewing Company
Cheluna is the only production brewery and tap room at the Stanley Marketplace, Colorado’s most exciting adaptive reuse project.
2501 Dallas Street, Unit 148 Aurora, CO 80010
From the Cheluna Website:
"We draw inspiration from México’s rich tradition of fermented beverages. The indigenous people of México were masters of fermentation, producing Mezcal and Pulque as far back as 400 BC.Beer (European lagers) were first brewed on the continent by Spanish settlers in the 1500s. In the 1800s, during the reign of Emperor Maximilian, a prince from the Austrian Hapsburg monarchy, Austrian and German imigrants introduced their style of brewing to México. The brewing of lagers, Mexican lagers is a persistant legacy of México’s European influences."
I honestly had not ever heard of Stanley Marketplace before we visited the brewery, but it seems like a pretty cool place.
I bet it is a great neighborhood destination for people in the area.
One cool thing about the Cheluna brewery being inside the Marketplace is that you can pick up a beer in Cheluna and carry it around the whole Marketplace while you're shopping or whatever else you're doing.
But, we treated Cheluna like most of our A to Z Breweries in that we packed a lunch, when inside and ordered flights.
The first flight was mostly picked by the Beer Model.
- Lowrider Mexican Lager
- Chula Kölsch
- Luna Nueva Export Lager
- Enduro Salted Lemon Wheat
- Carmelita Vienna Lager
- Salted Caramel Vienna Lager
They were all good. I wasn't so much a fan of the Salted Caramel Vienna, but I could see how some people would like it.
I picked most of the 2nd flight ...
These were also all pretty good, but I think we both preferred the more "traditional" first flight.
We had a nice lunch.
They had plenty of TV's to watch the various basketball games going on.
The artwork in the area was really cool.
Certainly worth checking out. If you find yourself in the area, drop in to try some of their beers.
And ... now ... normally we would say ... time for an "I" brewery.
However, we have already posted I is for Incantation Brewing, so we'll being hitting "J" next.
This will be another letter that presents a little bit of imagination to check off. I'm sure we'll figure it out, though.
Stay tuned on Sheppy's Blog: A to Z to find out what we pick.
