I spent some time recently updating the SheppyBrew Website.
The tech stack used on the site was very out of date and making any code changes to the site was very difficult.
If you're a computer geek at all, you could probably tell with the use of .aspx pages, and the fact that it really was not great on smaller screens.
But, really the main reason I felt I had to get the thing updated was that my hosting company sent me an email letting me know that support for the version of .NET was being removed from their servers "sometime this quarter".
So, I went with the more current MVC.NET pattern along with cooler / more responsive bootstrap UI elements.
I'm not a great designer, so it probably isn't the prettiest site in the world, but it is a bit more modern looking, and now I can make code updates fairly easily.
And ... it looks much better on smaller phone or tablet sized screens.
I did most of the work on Easter Weekend, and have been testing on http://test.sheppybrew.com the past couple days.
There are still some things that I need to hook up, but most of those are the content management pieces that only I can see, so I think it is ready for the public to consume.
If you see something weird, let me know.
Change the size of your screen and see how the site responds.
And ... if you prefer the old look and feel, I have http://archive.sheppybrew.com with the old code base running until the hosting company removes the older .NET version from their servers.
Something about my updates caused my SheppyBrew Alexa Skill to stop working, so that is something I'll have to figure out, but I'm pretty sure I'm the only one who uses it, so not a huge priority.
I'll also need to do work on the Content Management piece, but for now I can use the http://archive.sheppybrew.com site, so I'm not in a huge hurry to get that fixed either.
