Zymurgy's 2013 Best Beers in America

Zymurgy's 2013 Best Beers in America just came out.

None of SheppyBrew Brewery's beers made it this year.

Of course, if you follow this blog, you may know that every year I target this list to make sure I've tried as many of the beers as possible. From last year, I ended up with only 2 that I have not had (or at least that I don't remember ever trying).

The ones I missed from 2012 were:
Not a bad. Not bad at all.

So, now it is time to move on to the 2013 list.

I have already tried: 1. Russian River Pliny the Elder, 2. Bell's Two Hearted Ale, 3. Dogfish Head 90 Minute IPA, 4. Bell's Hopslam Ale, 5. Ballast Point Sculpin IPA, 6. Founders Breakfast Stout, 7. Arrogant Bastard Ale, 8. Sierra Nevada Ruthless Rye IPA

I have not tried
T9. Lagunitas Sucks (Seasonal Beer Late Dec - Early Jan)
I have had: T9. Sierra Nevada Celebration Ale, T9. Stone Ruination IPA, T12. North Coast Old Rasputin, T12. Sierra Nevada Torpedo Extra IPA, T12. Stone Enjoy By IPA, 15. Sierra Nevada Pale Ale

I have not had
16. The Alchemist Heady Topper (not distributed to CO)
I have drank: T17. Firestone Walker Double Jack, T17. Founders Kentucky Breakfast Stout, 19. Oskar Blues Dale's Pale Ale

I've never had the pleasure of
20. Firestone Walker Wookey Jack (should be able to find)
I've tried T21. Bear Republic Racer 5 IPA.

I have not tried:
T21. Three Floyds Zombie Dust (usually @GABF)

I have had: T23. Firestone Walker Union Jack, T23. Lagunitas Little Sumpin' Sumpin', 25. Goose Island Bourbon County Stout, 26. Surly Furious, T27. Deschutes Black Butte Porter, T27. Green Flash West Coast IPA.

As I mentioned from last year, I didn't get to sample
T27. Troegs Nugget Nectar. (not distributed to CO)
I did taste 30. Dogfish Head 60 Minute IPA.

I've never tasted:
31. Russian River Consecration (should be able to find)
T32. Boulevard Tank 7 Farmhouse Ale (should be able to find)

Of course I've had T32. New Belgium La Folie.

But, never have tried:
T32. Russian River Supplication (should be able to find)
I've had 35. Avery the Maharaja, 36. Lagunitas IPA, 37. Stone IPA, 38. Odell IPA,  T39. Great Lakes Edmund Fitzgerald, T39. Left Hand Milk Stout, T39. Russian River Pliny the Younger

Oddly, I've never tried the Colorado beer:
T42. Odell Myrcenary (should be able to find)
But have tried California beers: T42. Russian River Blind Pig I.P.A., T42. Stone Sublimely Self-Righteous

As far as I know, I've never had the pleasure of
45. Firestone Walker Parabola (should be able to find) T46. Ommegang Hennepin Saison Ale (should be able to find)

But have tried all the rest of the beers: T46. Left Hand Milk Stout Nitro, T48. Ommegang Three Philosophers, T48. Deschutes the Abyss, T48. Green Flash Palate Wrecker, T48. Lagunitas Brown Shugga'

And so, out of 51 of the top beers, I need to try 11 of them. This is not as big a head-start as last year, but 40 out of 51 is a respectable starting point.

Stay tuned for updates as I find and start drinking more of these beers. There are a couple that will be tough, but I think that most of these beers should be pretty easy for me to find in Colorado. 1. I'm short a few as well, mostly due to distribution (outside of the Stone Enjoy By, which I just haven't tried for whatever reason)... I need to get to work...
