Lost Park Backpacking Photos

Two weekends ago, we went backpacking in the Lost Creek Wilderness.

We didn't pack in real far ... maybe 3 or 4 miles, but we sure did hike a lot.

It is a beautiful area. My photos don't do it justice. NOTE: some of the pictures I took with my cell phone (which was basically a camera and GPS device for this weekend since we were way out of phone or data range). We also took pictures with a "real" camera.

This post only has the cell phone pictures. I'll post the camera pictures later.

Here are cell phone pictures:

The first night, we drove into Lost Park Campground and set up camp before the trail head.

We had dinner and then spent time hiking along one of the other trails in the area.

Click on the picture above and below ... you can see a decent sized elk herd in the distance. They didn't want anything to do with us and started running towards the trees as soon as they noticed us.

The next day, we packed in 3 or 4 miles on the "Wigwam Trail" into the "Lost Park". It is an absolutely gorgeous meadow area.

We went for a "day hike" down an untitled trail. The maps shows this trail dead-ending. We didn't go all the way down the trail to see it end.

It was a cool walk down "The Lost Creek".

Then we headed back to camp to eat and then spend some time along the creek. We found a tiny little "beach". Hung out and played "20 questions" for a long time while we waded in the creek.

Lots of fun.

The next day, we headed back towards the trail and found another campsite along the river.

Again, we hiked quite a bit after setting up camp.

Sunday, we hiked the rest of the way out of the wilderness.

We had lunch at one of our favorite little mountain pizza places on the way home.

The weekend didn't last long enough, but it sure was nice while it lasted.

Everyone had a great time.

  1. Do your kiddos do the arms around each other thing unprompted? Just wondering, 'cause they've got it down.

  2. They do. Sometimes it involves significant fighting when one wants to do it and the other doesn't (usually it is Connor who doesn't) ... but we rarely (if ever) ask them to put their arms around each other

    1. As you may remember, we tell our children to "pretend like they like each other," for photos, and "sometimes you hafta do things just to make the mama (or grandma or wife) happy." A useful skill to learn early in life.
