Q2 of 2016 at the SheppyBrew Brewery was fairly busy. I brewed 2 batches in April, 1 in May, and 3 in June.
That is 6 batches for the quarter:
- Mor'du Scottish Ale
- Muggled Pale Ale
- Tortuga Golden Ale
- #WeAreGroot
- Hail Storm Summer Saison
- T.Ra.Sh. Light Mexican Lager
Those 6 batches were 30.5 gallons, putting me at 50.5 gallons for the year. I'm on pace for right around the legal 100 gallons per brewer.
#WeAreGroot, and T.Ra.Sh. Light Mexican Lager are both lagers. This makes 5 lagers so far in 2016. I am pretty sure that is the most lager batches I've done in a year. As we are only half-way through, I should blow away this record.
As you may remember, I am keeping my eye on the 2015 BJCP Style Guidelines for brewing ideas this year. Mor'du Scottish Ale (14B. Scottish Heavy) and Tortuga Golden Ale (12A. British Golden Ale) marked a couple of new categories off my list.
#WeAreGroot is an interesting beer brewed with 5 pounds of sweet potatoes in the grain bill. It is my first sweet potato beer. It was an interesting experiment to say I'd tried it. Probably am not planning on doing another beer with sweet potatoes, but I guess you never know.

The 3rd quarter brewing schedule is starting off very slowly. So far, I have not brewed anything in Q3. I do hope to brew this weekend. Stay tuned on this blog to see what I do end up brewing.
Last time I went camping, I collected some spruce tips. I have them in the freezer right now. I should brew something with them pretty soon.
