I'm not much of a runner, but I've been following some Runna running plans since April or so.
I’m Doing 12 Days of 5ks for the American Cancer Society -Donate
I'm proud to report that I accomplished this goal. In fact, I actually finished 13 5k's during the month. More if you count walks.
I guess I'm a runner now.
My current running PR's now are:
- 400 meters ... 2:01 (8:07 per mile) ... 12/15/2025
- half mile: 04:39 (9:18 per mile) ... 08/08/2025
- 1 km: 5:48 (9:22 per mile) ... 07/04/2025
- 1 mile: 9:41 (9:41 per mile) ... 07/04/2025
- 2 mile: 19:38 (9:49 per mile) ... 12/22/2025
- 5 km: 30:47 (9:54 per mile) ... 01/06/2026
- 10 km: 1:08:35 (11:02 per mile) ... 12/18/2025
I actually gained enough confidence from this month of running that I've signed myself up for a Half Marathon.
I have a new Runna plan entered to get me ready to run this Half Marathon.
Crazy!
Currently, my Garmin Connect predicts I can run a Half Marathon in 2:16:06 (10:23 per mile)
Strava predicts I can run a Half in 2:26:19 (11:10 per mile)
And ... Runna has my estimated race time at 2:11:00 to 2:18:00 (10:00 per mile to 10:32 per mile)
I tried to treat my latest 5k (latest as I type this) as a "race", and I got my PR, but it was not anywhere close to these race predictors, so I'm thinking that these are overly optimistic targets. Strava seems like a much more reasonable prediction
I guess we'll see in April how well I do.
