By a bunch.
But, I did brew a batch of beer this past Sunday.
Hopefully, I'll get another batch of beer in on Big Brew Day, which is coming up this Saturday.
So ... maybe I'll catch up some.
Even if I do, I don't anticipate catching up enough to get over that 100 gallon homebrewing limit.
Regardless, I got up early Sunday morning to start up the Anvil Foundry and brewed ....
In 2015, the Blackhawks had just won their third Stanley Cup in 6 years after having gone 49 years without winning any. I hardly knew what to do with myself. I did know, however, that I wanted to make a beer to help celebrate the wonderful accomplishment.
And, this is my forth time brewing this beer. Sadly, the Blackhawks really have not been very good lately, and are in full re-build mode.
At the beginning of the season, it seemed like they might be able to make a run at the playoffs, but their young star Connor Bedard got hurt and they never recovered from the losses that came while he was out.
But, with a young, talented core, I'm hopeful that they are on the rise. Hopefully they'll make the playoffs next year.
I'll be routing for the Avalanche this year. But, at least I'll have Chelsea Dagger Pre-Prohibition Lager on tap to help me remember the glory days.
The brew day was a little disjointed. I probably should have gotten Foundry ready Saturday evening, but I didn't feel like it.
So, I had to get the water treated and heated Sunday morning instead.
I got the mash done before church (like I usually do) and drained / heated to just under boiling while at church.
After church, though, we had to drop off the Beer Model's bike at a Pedego shop to fix her brakes.
So, I didn't get my boil started until after 11:00 am.
Even with the disjointed brew day, everything went well. I was a little high on pre-boil gravity, which was fixed with a little extra water.
The boil went great in that I remembered to add everything when I planned to add it.
And ... chilling went well too. I got the beer into the fermenter in the basement at lager temperatures, pitching the yeast by 1pm.
That gave me plenty of time to clean up and even get to the grocery store before the Avalanche finished their sweep of the LA Kings.
Fermentation seems to be going well. I'll probably be drinking Chelsea Dagger by mid-May.
