Snowshoeing in the Mt. Evans Wilderness

We went snowshoeing in the Mt. Evans wilderness last weekend.

I love snowshoeing. It is so peaceful to be out in the wilderness and there is something about the pure white snow that makes it even more amazing to me. I also really like the opportunity to get exercise. As a bonus, dragging the kids along gets them exercise too.

We started along Echo Lake. If you've read this blog for awhile, you've probably seen lots of pictures of us along this lake.

We got off the main trail pretty quick to avoid a pack of what I think were boy scouts.

The snow was great. There was a nice deep base with a fair amount of powder on the top.

We didn't get real far. My kids like to fall in the snow and get easily distracted. The concept of covering ground and/or setting a destination is foreign to these people. But the important thing is that everyone had fun.

And boy did they have fun.

After the showshoeing we headed to  Idaho Springs and had lunch at on of my favorite brew pubs ... Tommyknocker.

Great times.

Go Blackhawks.

  1. Hello and thank you for posting! I have the Chinook Trekker Shoes and boy, are they the best. I really buy only from trusted manufacturers and I can see that this is top quality workmanship. The shoes are made from heavy duty aluminum crampons and remained the top choice for many. It is also very affordable, yet high qualtiy. If you want the best for your winter escape, then consider buying this stellar product. For more info, hop on to this amazing site http://backpackingmastery.com/top-picks/best-snowshoes.html
