Brewery: SheppyBrew
Style: Mango Wheat (Fruit Beer)
ABV: 4.7%
IBU: 27
SRM: 6.2
Appearance
A hazy, sun‑gold wheat beer with a soft, glowing body. The head is pale and fluffy, leaving light lacing as it settles. It looks like summer in a glass — bright, inviting, and just a touch opaque from the wheat and fruit.
Aroma
A gentle wave of fresh mango rises first — not candy‑sweet, but ripe and natural. Underneath it sits a clean wheat backbone: light grain, soft dough, a hint of citrus. The fruit and wheat blend seamlessly, giving it a tropical‑but‑balanced nose.
Flavor
Soft wheat malt leads with a smooth, slightly creamy base. The mango comes through as a bright accent, adding a touch of sweetness and tropical lift without overwhelming the beer. Low bitterness keeps the profile refreshing. The finish is clean, crisp, and lightly fruity — the kind of sip that makes you immediately want another.
Mouthfeel
Medium‑light body with a smooth, rounded texture from the wheat. Carbonation is lively enough to keep it refreshing but not sharp. The mango adds a subtle silkiness, making the beer feel soft and easygoing.
Overall Impression
A refreshing, warm‑weather wheat beer with just enough mango to make it playful. Balanced, clean, and endlessly drinkable — the kind of beer that disappears faster than you expect and leaves you wondering, “Where’d my mango go?”
Lore of Where’d My ManGo Wheat
Long before the SheppyBrew Gnomes learned to wrangle hops or whisper to yeast, there was a mischievous little sprite named ManGo — a bright‑eyed wanderer with a mango‑colored cap and a habit of disappearing at the exact moment someone needed him.
ManGo was the keeper of Summer Flavor, a rare and shimmering essence said to bring warmth to cold mountain mornings and sunshine to cloudy afternoons. The gnomes relied on him every year to awaken the season’s first wheat beer. But one spring, when the brewers gathered to begin the Summer Batch, ManGo was nowhere to be found.
They searched the brewhouse. They searched the cellar. They even searched behind the fermenter where the Hop Gnome takes his naps. Nothing.
All they found was a tiny note, stuck to a sack of wheat malt:
“Gone exploring. Back whenever. Save me a pint.” — ManGo
With no sprite to summon the Summer Flavor, the gnomes improvised. They crushed the ripest mangoes they could find, whispered a few half‑remembered spells, and blended the fruit into a bright American wheat base. The result was unexpectedly perfect — light, refreshing, tropical, and just mischievous enough to feel like ManGo had helped after all.
When the sprite finally wandered back weeks later, he took one sip, grinned, and said:
“Where’d my mango go? Oh… right into the beer. Nice.”
And so the brew was named.
Where’d My ManGo Wheat remains the gnomes’ tribute to the wandering sprite who taught them that sometimes the best flavors come from a little chaos, a little sunshine, and a fruit that refuses to stay where you left it.
