It was the American Homebrew Association's annual Big Brew Day this past Saturday.
If you follow along on this blog, you may remember that Big Brew Day is quite often a day that the Beer Model and I brew with one or more our homebrewing friends "Du" and "Doc".
But, this year the date sort of snuck up on us all and we didn't make plans for a get-together.
However ... the Beer Model and I had ordered and even picked up ingredients for a recipe that she was wanting us to brew ...
And ... so we decided to do it on Big Brew Day ...
We first brewed Where'd My ManGo Wheat back on Learn to Homebrew day in November of 2017.
Saturday was SheppyBrew's 2nd time brewing this beer.
Of course, when I brew with the wife, I have to wait much later to get started with a brew day. But, she did get up at a somewhat reasonable hour and so I didn't have to wait too terribly late.
I made a simplified brew sheet so she would be able to understand all the steps better. I thought maybe I would just be able drink and let her handle everything during the brewing process, but apparently that was not allowed.
I did learn that apparently, my wife has never paid attention to me hydrating dry yeast. It was somewhat painful watching her do that part.
But, together, we worked through the steps.
She even pulled the grain basket up out of the Foundry when it was time to drain it.
We had a few beers during the brew day and had a nice little picnic lunch.
The boil went well, although the Beer Model did desert me close of the beginning of the boil to go look at a house.
The gravity was a little low, although it might be that Beer Smith was adding in gravity points from the fruit, which doesn't get added until "secondary".
Regardless, I'm sure it will be delicious.
Hopefully the Beer Model will drink most of it.
As always, stay tuned on the regular SheppyBrew Channels to see what is happening with beer, barbeque, biking and other things in my life: SheppyBrew's Facebook Page; Sheppy's Twitter Feed; SheppyBrew's Instagram Page; and SheppyBrew's Website.
