Denver Breweries

I came across my Beer Drinkers Guide to Colorado map the other day. If you are unfamiliar, it is much like the map they are selling here: . It is a real cool full-sized map which lists every brewery in Colorado.... or at least it listed every brewery in the state at the time the map went to the printer.

It also has a ton of information and lots of coupons. They say over $250 in value.

Mine is the 5th edition, and has significantly fewer breweries in it than the current 6th edition. Based on the ridiculous number of breweries that seem to be opening every month round here, I have to assume the 6th edition is woefully out-of-date already too. I know the couple who put it together tried to include breweries that were on their way .... but still ... there is no way a map like this can be up-to-date.

In case you didn't know, Colorado has lots of breweries. Lots of these breweries are in the Denver area, and I am sad to report that I have not been to most of them. Actually, I have been to a pitifully small proportion of them.

What kind of a craft beer fan am I?

I love the local small brewery. Most of the breweries around here get started as tiny little things. They usually either have limited distribution or no distribution at all and rely mostly on local craft beer fans coming into their tasting room. They usually have a huge variety of beer. Usually, their brewers are real accessible and geeks like me can talk beer with them.

As my Zymurgy Best Beer in America list is so small this year, I've decided I am going to make an effort to try to visit more of the local breweries.

Here is a list for Denver. NOTE ... this is in Denver city limits only. This doesn't include any of the many suburbs. I got this from . I don't know how often they update this, but I know off the top of my head at least one that is missing. I will be updating this list as I come up with more. Eventually, I will include more Denver-area suburbs as well.

For my latest on this list, follow the Denver Breweries "label" on this blog.

By the way ... if you know of any Denver area breweries I am missing, let me know in the comments below. I would also love to hear if you have any comments on any of the breweries I have listed.

  1. This will be a daunting challenge, but I know you're up to it. Godspeed, my friend.

  2. Thanks for your support, Mrs Bluefield.

  3. You should add De Steeg Brewing and Crooked Stave in Denver.

    1. Also don't forget Denver Beer Company.

  4. Thanks Dave.

Crooked Stave was actually what I was referring to when I said "but I know off the top of my head at least one that is missing".

Not sure how the hell I missed Denver Beer Company. Out of all the Denver breweries, it seems like it would be the most obvious.

And then ... I have to get the suburbs in here too. Holy cow.
