The streak is broken

Every month since May of 2011, this blog has gotten more and more page views. February did not have more page views than January, so this epic streak is now over. Part of me is relieved that this happened. The streak was unnatural and creeped me out a bit. According to the average views per day, had this been a 31 day month, the streak would have continued. If it were a 30 day month, we still would have missed it.

If you feel like reviewing the magic ride, feel free to read through the posts at http://blog.ericshepard.com/search/label/Blogging. As it turns out, February comes in 5th all-time behind Oct 2012 thru Jan 2013.

For what it is worth, March is off to a great start.

It may just depressing for you fans out there now, but here are the most-viewed posts of the last 30 days:

#1 ... Female vs. Male Brain Oct 28, 2011 ... Again. Increasing its #1 all-time lead.

#2 ...  My 500th Blog Post ... Feb 5, 2012 ... Again. Still #4 all-time.

#3 ... All-Grain Version of the White House Honey Porter Sep 14, 2012 ... Best showing yet for this recipe post. It climbed to #7 on the all-time most viewed list.

#4 ...  All-Grain Version of the White House Honey Ale Nov 12, 2012 ... I kept expecting this to start to get the same kind of traffic as the White House Honey Porter gets. Finally this seems to be the case.

#5 ... Khazad-dûm Brew Day Feb 11, 2013 ... Just a typical brew-day for my "Khazad-dûm Black Lager". It is good to see one of February's posts on this list.

#6 ... Pale Ale Dec 20, 2011 ... Always popular and currently #3 on the all-time most viewed list. It is a plea to not discriminate beer based on color. It also has a cool SRM color chart which seems to get lots of attention from goolgle images search.

#7 ... 5A. Maibock/Helles Bock Feb 18, 2013 ... Talking about my next brew, "Helles in a Hand Bock-sket".

#8 ... Happy St. Patrick's Day Mar 16, 2012 ... Another one that seems to have gotten quite a bit of attention from Google image search over the past month or so.

 #9 ... Women and Beer Jul 23, 2011 ... #2 all-time. People like women. People like beer.

#10 ... Beer Motivation Oct 21, 2011 ... Goes through its popular phases, but is not currently on the all-time viewed list. Go ahead and take a look. See if you can figure out the picture there that seems to get the most attention.

So, there you go. Those are the top 10 viewed posts on this blog over the past 30 days.

This streak of record-breaking page views may be over, but I am happy to say the Chicago Blackhawks continued their unbeaten (in regulation) streak last night. Of course I am happy to see them playing so well. I am still not getting my hopes up too high, though. It doesn't matter who is winning over the first 20 to 25 games. What really matters is how they play once the Stanley Cup Playoffs come around. Remember that the defending Stanley Cup Champions got into the playoffs as an 8 seed last year.

So, as I am excited to be able to watch the Blackhawks winning right now, I temper my enthusiasm.

I should brew another batch of Tommy Hawk APA soon.
