Hurray for #HomeBrewing in Alabama

At the beginning of 2013, there were still 2 states in which Home-brewing beer was illegal.

In March, Mississippi finally passed a bill to legalize home-brewing, leaving Alabama.

And now, the Alabama senate finally passed a bill that legalizes home-brewing beer in their ass-backwards state. As soon as the Governor of Alabama signs the bill, thousands of home-brewers will officially be legal.

See the American Homebrewers Association's Alabama Homebrew Bill Passes Senate .

Congratulations on joining the rest of the country, Alabama. It is about time.

Back in 2011, I shared that I had laughed out loud at a podcast where the Brewing Network was ridiculing some of the legislative idiots on the home-brew debate. I still think that part of the podcast was one of the funniest things I've ever heard.

Download it here: http://thebrewingnetwork.com/shows/761 and skip ahead to around the 2 hour 40 minute mark of the podcast. Trust me, it is worth listening to. Funny stuff. Just be warned, there is some language that makes it NSFW.

But now, we cannot make fun of Alabama anymore.... at least for their home-brewing laws. I'm sure there are lots of other things we can make fun of them for.

Of course, the governor still needs to sign to make this bill a law.

  1. Just a little update ... the Governor did, in fact, sign the bill. It is now officially legal to home-brew beer in Alabama. Hurray!
