We started round 5 with a bike ride to A is for AC Golden Tank Room, and just around a week ago we posted K is for Kodiak Brewery Bar and Grill.
If you have not been following along, check out the other A to Z Breweries Series of Posts, and I'm confident you'll pick up on the concept.
So ... since we finished up K, obviously up next we needed an "L" brewery.
According to the Colorado Brewery Map & List, we actually had quite a few choices for "L" breweries, and last Friday, we picked one out ...
L is for Locavore Beer Works
I've mentioned Locavore on this blog a couple of times, and it is one of my favorite breweries. It is really close to where SheppyBrew Beer Model and I live.
5950 S Platte Canyon Rd, Littleton, CO
We've visited this brewery much more than most of the other Denver area breweries. When we have out-of-town visitors who want to visit breweries, this is quite often one of our go-to's.
I really like their story.
When describing "what is a locavore", I tell people that a Herbivore is someone (thing) that eats plants. A Carnivore is someone (thing) that eats meats.
A Locavore is someone who eats local foods and drinks.
Or ... in the case of a brewery ...
"it is a person who chooses to support local industry, whether it be food, general services, or products. In the end, it comes to this: support your mom and pop shops before the big box guys."
They've grown quite a bit since they opened years ago, the taproom being about 2x the size it was when I first visited.
They don't serve food, but they partner with their neighbors Brad's Pit BBQ, which is one of the coolest names for a restaurant I can think of ever seeing.
You can order on your phone right from every table, and someone from Brad's Pit will deliver right to your table.
I've liked everything I've tried from Brad's Pit, and enjoy just about every beer I've had at Locavore.
The beer menu is a great mix of flag ship beers and newer recipes.
If you find yourself visiting Littleton, Colorado ... Locavore Beer Works is a must-see.
Now that we've visited our "L" brewery, our next one will start with an "M". We actually visited our "M" brewery on the next day ...
So stay tuned on Sheppy's Blog: A to Z to see what we picked.
As always, stay tuned on the regular SheppyBrew Channels to see what is happening with beer and other things: SheppyBrew's Facebook Page; Sheppy's Twitter Feed; SheppyBrew's Instagram Page; and SheppyBrew's Website.
Go Avalanche!
