E is for Someplace Else Brewery

It's been awhile since we've posted to the A to Z series of posts.

But, the series is still on our radar, and after D, we needed an "E" brewery to visit.

You may remember from D is for Denver Beer Company that there are no "E" breweries on the Colorado Brewery Map & List for use to use in the Denver area.

But, as you know if you've been following along, we don't let that sort of thing stop us.

We're more than willing to take artistic license if we don't have a new brewery starting with a letter.

This time, we picked ....

Someplace Else Brewery is an interesting little 5 barrel brewery located in Arvada, Colorado at

6425 W 52nd Avenue, Unit 6

From their website:
"What was built in a garage with some reused kegs, a hobby, and a dream, Ryan and Tori crafted what is now SomePlace Else Brewery. Located in Arvada, Colorado, this “brewcade” is a haven for beer drinkers, pinball and skeeball enthusiasts, and dog lovers, who are looking for a fun, friendly, and easy going atmosphere with a hint of a competitive edge. When designing and building our brewing system and taproom on a shoestring budget in an already saturated market, we asked ourselves, how do we stand out from the rest?

Our commitment to a diverse flagship craft beer selection all year round and a unique customer experience were always at the forefront of our plans. Providing a friendly, fun, and relaxing hangout spot in the neighborhood where locals could come and enjoy fresh craft beer and the company of others (and maybe a game or two of pinball or skeeball) has always been and remains our main focus and goal. Since the opening of SomePlace Else Brewery we have introduced a weekly small batch R&D program. This program allows beer enthusiasts to switch it up every week with new and innovative flavors in beer! With our pop-culture theme, bustling atmosphere, and award-winning beer we hope that every time you visit SomePlace Else Brewery, it is one to be remembered and repeated."

The brewery has various games to play to stay entertained while hanging out, including skeeball and a 21+ pinball room.

They do have food options, but are not officially a restaurant, so you can bring your own food, which is what we did last Saturday.

We ordered two flights of four.

The first was the beers that interesting the Beer Model.

  • Coolcumber Ale ... a 5.5% ABV cucumber kölsch. Not bad if you like that sort of thing, but not something I'd want more of a sample of. The Beer Model liked it more than I did.

  • Mexican Lager ... A thirst-quenching, pale straw-colored lager with a slightly sweet malt flavor balanced by mild hops. Both of us liked this beer quite a bit.

  • Alpine Loop Amber ... A bright, balanced amber ale featuring caramel malt flavors and a light to moderate hop profile for a slightly sweet finish. A nice solid tasty amber.

  • Coffee Cream Ale ... A blonde ale infused with expresso flavoring. I loved this beer. The Beer Model wasn't really a fan.

The 2nd flight were beers that the Beer Model wasn't that interested in, but was will to try.
  • Irish Stout ... A light- to medium-bodied stout featuring rich chocolate and coffee flavors from roasted malts, a silky mouthfeel, and a subtle bitter finish. Basically exactly what you'd expect in an Irish stout.

  • Vanilla Porter ... A full-bodied American porter showcasing toffee and chocolate notes from roasted malts, with real vanilla beans added to create a creamy and robust flavor profile. I thought this was really well done. Just enough vanilla without overdoing it.

  • Weeeeee Heavy ... A big Scottish ale with notes of caramel. The Beer Model thought it tasted "boozy", but I thought it didn't considering the ABV.

  • Raspberry Cream Ale ... Bright, tangy raspberry flavor features prominently against a clean and refreshing cream ale base. A slightly sweet, refreshing choice for any occasion. This was the only beer neither of us really liked.

We did have a couple of pints to finish off lunch with. I had the Irish Stout and the Beer Model has the Mexican Lager.

By the time we left, the place was absolutely packed, so apparently this is a popular spot on a sunny Saturday afternoon.

We enjoyed the brewery and thought it is a great place.... especially if you're an adult (21+) pinball enthusiast.

I would suggest stopping by if you get a chance.

And ... now we need an "F" brewery. According to the Colorado Brewery Map & List, we have a couple to choose from.

Keep an eye on Sheppy's Blog: A to Z, and you'll know shortly after we figure out which brewery to visit.
