SheppyBrew 2016 Year-End Brewing Stats

As you may know, the Brewery likes to post quarterly updates on how much we have brewed. You can see all these updates (including the one you are reading right now) by following this link: Sheppy's Blog: Brew Stats.

Just as I started writing this blog post, I noticed that in 2016 Q3 SheppyBrew Stats, I said ...
"Q3 of 2016 at the SheppyBrew Brewery, we only brewed one batch of beer."
However, I wrote that before Q3 was over. I must have been thinking that September was part of Q4. So, I actually brewed a few more beers in Q3.

So, I lied to you. Sorry about that. Forgetting that September was part of Q3 transformed it from a light quarter to a pretty busy one.

And the 4th quarter was pretty busy. I brewed:

As you may or may not know ... it is legal for an adult to homebrew 100 gallons of beer in a calendar year. Technically, since there are two adults in my household, we could brew 200 gallons of beer together, but 100 is always my bench mark for what to expect. Some years I brew more. Some I brew less.

This year, I was close, but not quite to 100.

According to my spreadsheet, I brewed approximately 95 gallons of beer in 2016.

That comes out to about 20 batches of beer.
11 of those batches were new recipes for me.
Most of those were Ales, but this year I brewed 7 lagers. That is the most lagers I've ever brewed in a year.

2017 isn't starting off  real busy. So far I've brewed one batch of beer. I expect I'll probably brew another batch next weekend.

As far as plans for the year, I don't really have any. I think I'll brew somewhere around 90 gallons again this year, but I might go lower. We'll have to see.

I don't really have any new styles that I've been wanting to try. I may end up trying some historical beers, but then I may not.

I do expect to stay on the lower side of ABV, but that doesn't mean I won't brew any big beers.

So, I can't really think of much else to say.

Again, if you specifically want to check out these Quarterly Reports, bookmark Sheppy's Blog: Brew Stats. Hopefully I'll get the 2nd Quarter report out earlier after the Quarter ends.

Take care everyone.

Go Blackhawks!
