K is for Knotted Root Brewing Company

Here it is May already. We're getting close to being halfway done with 2025.

We're actually getting pretty close to half-way done with Round 6 of the A to Z series of posts as well.

We just started Round 6 late November last year with A is for Arms, Call To Brewing Company.

And ...

Just a couple weeks ago we hit J is for Justice Lady Brewing.

Which means we had to find a good "K" brewery to visit.

While technically, we've hit all the "K" Denver-area breweries on the Colorado Brewery Map & List, there was a Nederland brewery I wanted to visit ...

Nederland is about an hour drive from the Home Brewery, which is farther than we would want to travel just for lunch and drinks, but there are a lot of National Forest hikes in the area.

So, we packed up some hiking stuff and a lunch. The we headed up to Roosevelt National Forest's Lost Lake via Hessie Trail.

We spent 3 hours or hiking up to and back from the lake.

This put us right at lunch time, so we headed over to Nederland and Knotted Root.

It is located "downtown" at 250 North Caribou Street Nederland, CO, 80466

The brewery totally has a small-mountain-town-brewery vibe, basically inhabiting a big "shack".

From their website:
Knotted Root Brewing Company is a small, artisan brewery located in the quaint mountain setting of Nederland, Colorado.  Combining elements of traditional Belgian brewing and American experimentation, Knotted Root focuses on unfiltered hoppy ales, smoothie-style sours, and seasonal, rustic farmhouse ales.

They don't have a huge beer menu, and we just ordered one flight in this place.

The Beer Model's favorite was Oh'Kee American Light Lager. Mine was Paint the Sky Hazy IPA.

The flight also included a really good coffee stout called "Take Me Home Tonight", and another Hazy that wasn't as good as Paint the Sky, but still pretty good.

We each got a pint of our favorite from the flight to drink while we finished our packed lunch.

I also decided to pick up a 4 pack of the Oh'Kee to bring home to enjoy later.

While we were finishing up lunch, a dude started setting up for playing live music. Not sure who he was, but I'm sure it would have been cool to stay and listen.

But, we had to head back to the Denver area.

It was an awesome small-mountain-town-brewery, and I'm sure that when we're in the area again we'll make an effort to stop by.

Up next ... "L". We have quite a few Denver-area choices that start with the letter "L", but when it comes right down to it, I'm 95% sure which one we'll hit.

But ... you'll have to stay tuned to find out for sure.
