A Brunette and Three Blonds

Those of you who have visited SheppyBrew Brewery generally have the opportunity to try a flight of beers we have on tap at the time.

It gives you a quick way to decide which beer(s) you might be interested in.

Every so often, I'll pour myself a flight and spend some time considering the beers I have.

Even though in 4th of July Steak and Corn, I listed and described the beers I have on tap, the Gnomes and I poured a flight to share.

Mud Blood Baltic Porter ...

My only dark beer. In fact my only non-blond. It is also the only Roll-a-Style beer I've done so far this year. Of the beers on tap, this is the one that was kegged first, and there isn't much left. It is still delicious.

A refined, balanced Baltic Porter that showcases SheppyBrew’s love of clean fermentation and malt‑forward depth. Mud Blood is rich without being heavy, complex without being chaotic, and dark without drifting into acrid territory. It’s a beer built for slow evenings, cold nights, and moments when you want something both comforting and quietly formidable.

Bad Lands Kölsch ...

I first came up with this recipe back in 2015, and recently decided to brew it up again. I've been drinking the hell out of this beer since I kegged and carbonated it. It is just a simple easy-drinking, fairly low ABV that is perfect for grilling in hot weather.

A bright, easy‑drinking Kölsch inspired by the rugged beauty of the South Dakota Badlands. Bad Lands Kölsch pours pale gold with a soft, bready malt backbone and a clean, refreshing finish. Light fruity esters from the Kölsch yeast add just a hint of character without getting in the way of its crisp drinkability. Balanced noble hops keep things snappy and smooth.

Another beer I brewed first several years ago (217) and decided to brew again recently. I'm not much of a fruit beer fan, but the Beer Model convinces me from time to time to brew one. As fruit beers go, this ManGo Wheat is one of my favorites.

A refreshing, warm‑weather wheat beer with just enough mango to make it playful. Balanced, clean, and endlessly drinkable — the kind of beer that disappears faster than you expect and leaves you wondering, “Where’d my mango go?”

Basically a Bohemian/Czech Pilsner that I brewed with input from a More Beer article on how to "recreate" original Michelob. It is currently my favorite beer on tap.

A crisp, flavorful premium pale lager that bridges Czech finesse with American nostalgia. Ground Hog Premium Lager delivers the clean malt character and balanced bitterness of a classic Czech pale lager while echoing the elegant simplicity of the Michelob I remember from my Bradley days. Exceptionally drinkable, quietly complex, and built for both reflection and easy enjoyment — a true SheppyBrew premium lager.
