2014 #GABF Friday Night Plan

I always go into the Great American Beer Fest with a game plan. I think the main reason is that 600 different breweries in one place is sort of intimidating. Having a plan helps me stay focused and I think it enhances my beer fest enjoyment.

This year, my wife has taken the time to do a "plan" so part of my plan is to go where she wants to go. I guess that is fair considering most years I get to dictate where we go during the fest.

Unfortunately, her plan involves Pumpkin Beers. Berry Beers. Cream Beers. And Peanut Butter Beers.

Can you imagine having to drink several different Pumpkin beers in one night? Yeesh!

So, here is my plan ...

As soon as I get in, I am heading over to E16 Russian River Brewing Company. If the beer list that GABF published is correct, they will have Supplication on tap, and I will have a sample to check off my Best Beers in America List. As you may know, I am not usually one to wait in lines, but this year I am making this one exception. I am actually going to have a Russian River beer at GABF. Never say never. Yum!

After that, I am planning on heading over to the Support Your Local Brewery Pavilion and see what beers each of the State Guilds have on tap.

6:30 pm - 7:00 pm  Beer & Food Pavilion ... Beer & Food Pairing Techniques with Green Flash Brewing Co. & ChoLon Bistro

7:30 pm - 8:00 pm  Brewers Studio Pavilion ... Attack of the 50 Foot Brunette

8:30 pm - 9:30 pm Beer & Food Pavilion ... Beer Got Your Tongue

During filling times, I am going to search for medal winning sours of last year.

American-Style Sour Ale Style
Gold = Ching Ching from Bend Brewing Co A6
Silver = Myrtle from The Commons Brewery A15

German-Style Sour Ale
Gold = German Sparkle Party Berliner Weiss from 10 Barrel Brewing Co. A1
Silver = Berliner Metro Weiss from Devils Backbone Brewing Co. - Basecamp T13

Experimental Beer
Silver = Dragon's Milk Reserve - Smaug's Breath by New Holland Brewing Co

As needed, we'll hit breweries on my wife's list.

Breweries suggested on my Facebook Page:
Sort of fluid to be considered a "plan", but this is what I have.

Happy #GABF everybody.
