It has actually been awhile since I've brewed. Before Sunday, the last beer I brewed was Big Brew Day ... Halfway to Helles (Batch 375) the very first weekend of May.
If you've been following along and paying attention, you likely know that most of my recipes this year have been new recipes generated from the Roll-a-Style list.
As a result, I've been basically ignoring the "Seasonals".
However, recently the Beer Model requested one of her favorites, which just happens to be the June Seasonal. Happy Wife Happy Life (nothing rhymes with "husband").
I didn't prep anything Saturday evening and really didn't get started very early on Sunday morning.
My grains were in around 6am and the mash timer really started around 6:20.
I took a break just before 8am to go off to church with the wife. I took the grain basket out to drain and set the Foundry to heat up while I was gone.
My pre-boil gravity was high, so after I got back from church I diluted with extra water.
Which caused the boil to start later than it would have had I checked and diluted before leaving.
Oh well.
The boil went well. I added the honey and coriander to the fermenter to rack on top of.
Chilling took longer than usual. It actually wasn't until significantly after 11 that I got the beer racked and the yeast pitched.
Fermentation didn't really take off until later the next day, but it will be fine.
Once fermentation is done, we'll zest some oranges. We should be drinking before the end of June.
It will be awhile before I'll have to make a beer just to make the wife happy again.
