Yep, 100 miles.
That's right ... On my bicycle.
Yep, in one day.
No, my butt is fine.
Nope, I'm not crazy.
Yes, I know you don't like to drive that far.
I have committed to riding 1,200 miles over the course of September.
I always try to get a good start over the first few days and the long Labor Day Weekend so that I'm not worrying about miles towards the end of the month when who knows what the weather will be like or what else might be going on.
By the time you read this, I will probably have gone on several GCC rides. If you'd like to follow along or make a donation ... follow the link:
I got up fairly early ... probably about 90 minutes before sunrise.
I headed north towards Golden and the Clear Creek bike path.
It has been awhile since I've ridden on this path.
I've always complained (in my head to myself) how bad the bike paths are labeled north of Denver. Sometime between the last time I was up there and now, they've made a bunch of signage improvements.
I took the Clear Creek bike path to the Platte River bike path and headed farther north of Denver.
At some point, I turned around and headed back south.
I got into Chatfield state park and then back around the 470 bike path back toward Bear Creek park.
I finished up the 100 miles pretty much right at my doorstep.
It was a pretty quick ride, Strava says it is my 3rd fastest century ever. And, I was able to get another 75 done on Tuesday.
So, I got a great start on my GCCUSA2025.
I'm not sure if I'll get another century ride in. Keep an eye on this blog and you will probably find out.
