Still More @Untappd Badges 12

As you may know if you've been following this blog long enough, I've been reporting on the untappd badges I earn. I can't imagine why you would want to, but you can look at all the posts (including this one) by going to the "untappd" label on this blog.

Since Still More @Untappd Badges 11, I've earned the following:

Find the Source (Level 2 and 3): This is a relatively new badge. As you know, I am a fan of Drinking Locally, and this badge rewards me for having beer right at the brewery at which it was made. Apparently, I've had a beer at 15 different venues categorized as a Brewery. The beer that got me to level 3 was "Summer Lovin' Un-Wheat" at my own SheppyBrew Brewery.

Lager Jack (Level 4): One of those badges that has recently allowed "leveling". Pretty simple to get, all I had to do was drink 5 lager beers per level. The one that got me to Level 4 was "Zwickle Beer" at Breckenridge Brewery when we made our annual trip to the Duck Races.

Pale as the Moon (Level 4, 5, and 6): Apparently, a bunch of the beers I drink are considered pale ales. I think maybe untappd was giving me credit for beers I drank before the leveling went into affect, because I swear I got 4, 5, and 6 on consecutive pale ale check-ins (supposed to be every 5). Regardless, the beer that got me to level 6 was Cuke Pale Ale at Denver Beer Company during my Beers and the BallPark trip.

Heavey Weight (Level 4): Another badge that recently implemented "leveling". Apparently, I like my beer "thick and dark". Every 5 "dark" beers I get another level on this badge. The beer that got me to level 4 was "High-Tide Oyster Stout" at Denver Beer Company. In case you are interested, I blogged about it on Beers and the BallPark.

Beer Gathering: This badge is about checking into a venue where 10 or more others are checking in at about  the same time (within 5 hours). For me, it was Coors Field on the Beers and the BallPark day. I thought the name of the beer I had was Last Straw Farmhouse, but as I am the only one who has ever checked into that beer, I might have misheard the server.

Land of the Free: This is a new badge (or I would have gotten it long ago). All I had to do was check into 5 beers made in an United States brewery. This is also a badge that supports levels. I am sure I am going to max-out on the the levels really quickly. All the beer I drink is made in the United States. The 5th beer that got me the badge was IPA And a Half by Tommyknocker Brewery.

Photogenic Brew: Another new badge that I earned almost as soon as it came out. To get this badge, I added a photo to each of 5 check-ins. I almost always include a picture, so I would have gotten this long ago if it had been available earlier. It doesn't say it supports levels, so this is probably a one-time badge. We'll see, though. The 5th beer that got me the badge was Colorado IPA Nouveau from Tommyknocker Brewery.

America's Premier Beerfest (2013): The idea behind this badge was to check in a beer in or around the Great American Beer Festival. Although I was planning on getting this badge, I was surprised when it came up Thursday night when I had a NSFW Belgium Golden Strong Ale at home. Apparently, the SheppyBrew Brewery is close enough to the festival to get this badge.

Weekday Warrior: To get this beer, I have had to drink 5 beers after 10pm on weeknights. I have no idea what the first four were, but the one that got me the badge was my own She Who Must Be Obeyed. This isn't even that new of a badge. I don't drink very much on weekdays .... especially after 10pm.

Home Brewed Goodness: Obviously another very new badge, or I would have gotten this long ago. All I had to do is drink 2 (are you serious) different home brews. As most of the beer I drink is home brew, this was not difficult at all for me. This probably is not a badge that has levels. The home brew that got me this badge was SheppyBrew's NSFW Belgium Golden Strong Ale.

Well, that is 10. In Still More @Untappd Badges 11, I had 100 badges and now I have 115, which means I am missing a couple. I'm sure they are impressive, but unfortunately I cannot tell you which ones they were.

Oh Well.

I've checked-in 433 unique beers since I joined untappd. If you would like to be my untappd friend, go ahead and give me a request https://untappd.com/user/esheppy.

While you're at it, go "like" SheppyBrew Brewery on Facebook.
