December Update on 2025 Cycling Goals

I do quite a bit of cycling for a middle-aged couch potato.

With all the BBQ I make and eat, and all the beer I brew and drink, biking a ridiculous amount helps keep me somewhat in shape.

So ... I spend lots of time cycling around the foothills of Denver.

If you're interested, I always track on Strava. (even if you're not interested)

Anyway ... as you may remember from 2025 Cycling Goals, I had 5 cycling goals in 2025:

#MetricCenturyEveryMonth / #8200MilesIn2025 / #16EverestsIn2025 / Triple Bypass Ride / #GCCUSA

2025 is now over ... and ...

Here is an update for these goals as of the end of December, 2025:

  1. #MetricCenturyEveryMonth
    CHECK ✅
On the Saturday before Christmas, I did 2 rides totaling more than 100km (Saturday Morning Ride and Another Saturday Ride). I decided to give myself credit for a Metric Century ride, even though technically it was two separate rides. So, this is the 53rd straight month that I've been able to finish at least one 100km "ride". July of 2021 was the last month I did not finish a metric century.

  2. #8200MilesIn2025
    CHECK ✅
At the end of November, I only needed 150 miles, and I passed up this goal before half-way through the month. I finished the year with 8,586 miles.

  3. #16EverestsIn2025
    CHECK ✅
16 x 29,032 = 464,512 feet. At the end of  December I have logged over 465,993 feet climbed (over 16 Everests). This puts me over the goal by over 1,482 feet. To be honest, even though I was ahead of this goal pretty much all year, this was in doubt the longest. I passed the goal on the 29th of the month.

  4. Triple Bypass Ride
    CHECK ✅
If you read this blog, you probably know that I did the 2025 Triple Bypass Ride in July. I even did it slightly faster than last year.

  5. #GCCUSA
    CHECK ✅
As I mentioned, I surpassed both my mileage and fundraising goals.

So, on what I considered aggressive 2025 goals, I really nailed them. Yay for me.

Next year, I'm going to add some running goals to Strava, and as a result, my cycling goals are going to be significantly less. Stay tuned, and I'll share what those are.

Happy New Year, everyone!
