Weekend Camping and Kayaking Photos

This past weekend was Fathers' Day Weekend and my kids decided to go camping for the weekend.

With the help of their mother, they reserved us a campsite on Granby Lake. It was an awesome weekend. Perfect weather. Lots of fun activities. Great fun.

Here is the view from our campsite ...

Here is our tent and canopy in the photo to provide context.

The next few photos are from our first full day of the weekend.

We spent 4 hours kayaking on "Shadow Lake", which is just North of the Lake Granby we were camping on ...

My wife and oldest son were in their own kayak ...

My youngest son and I were in our kayak ...

The views were great and there were quite a few cool islands to visit ...

More kayaking ...

It was a lot of fun. 4 hours of kayaking is quite a lot. We were ready to come in when the time was up.

Fun stuff ...

Stay tuned for a blog post on the rest of the weekend ...

  1. One of those great tips that my dad passed on to us kids is to never buy cheap camping gears because, well, your life depends on it. So, when we were camping, all our equipment are to of the line and my dad takes pride in having the best ones among his buddies. Another is know basic survival skills - fire starting, where to get water and filter it, map reading and using the compass. We've spent hours camping in all kinds of weather and so, we also invest in quality-made gear. Most of all, I think one should be proactive, plan ahead and make sure safety is a prime consideration.
