Q is for barQuentine Brewing Company

If you're following along, you know that I recently posted P is for Prost Brewing Company.

You are probably familiar enough with the English alphabet to know that after "P" comes "Q".

Q is tough for my A to Z Denver Breweries series of blog posts.

In round 1, I wasn't able to find and "Q" breweries in the Denver area, but I was able to use a Meadery with Q is for Queen Bee Brews.

In round 2, I still couldn't come up with any "Q" breweries, so I had to take "artistic license" with Q is for LiQuid Mechanics Brewing Company.

Here it is ... round 3 ... as far as I know, there are still no breweries in the Denver that start with the letter "Q".

So, once again, just like last time ... I had to take "artistic license" to come up with a "Q" brewery.

I'm honestly glad that I came across this brewery. It really wasn't on my radar at all until I had to search for "Q" on the Colorado Brewery List, and I really like this place.

It is located in beautiful Edgewater, Colorado, just west of Sloan's Lake ... right by the "Public Market".

We visited the brewery last Friday.

My wife (aka The SheppyBrew Beer Model) didn't want to bike to the brewery on Friday, but it is pretty accessible for cyclists.

We did decide to walk around Sloan's Lake before visiting the brewery for lunch.

The brewery itself doesn't serve food, but being part of the Edgewater Public Market, there are several options for food to pick up and bring into the brewery. We both had gyros from "Gyro King" in the food court area of the Market.

We sat in the beer garden area and had a flight to start out with.

Sloans Lake Yacht Club ... An easy-sipping, straw-colored Belgium Table Beer with a twinge of fruity yeast. This was probably my favorite beer of the flight.

Sea Bear ... A classic saison with all Colorado malt and noble hops.

Powdered Wig Kind o' Night .. A clean honey-golden lager with pleasant tropical Citra hop notes.

Wet Cash ... A wet hopped saison with cashmere hops harvested in the morning and added immediately to the brew offer a bouquet of lemon zest and melon. Local Olander Farms wheat lends a pleasant earthiness.

You Rest, You Rust ... A wonderful Bière de Garde with rich caramelized and kilned barley that lends a deep ruby hue, burnt sugar aroma and fig flavor. This was the Beer Model's favorite of the flight.

Colorado (extra) Strong ... An IPA brewed with all-Colorado ingredients to provide aid together with over 100 breweries for the Colorado Strong Fund. Cascade, cashmere, and chinook hops.

After the flight, we each had a pint of our favorite beers and finished up our gyros.

I really enjoyed all the beers and love the location. I am quite certain I'll be back.

From the website:
"We are inspired by the beers of Belgium and the sailing ships, called Barquentines, that brought Old World brewers their provisions. The recipes are drawn from tradition and modernized for the well-trained palate of the Colorado beer drinker."

If you find yourself in the Edgewater area, check out the Public Market and the Barquentine Brewing Company.

Their taproom hours are:
Monday - Thursday 12 to 9 PM
Friday and Saturday 11 AM to 10 PM
Sunday 11 AM to 9 PM

So ... that is our "Q" brewery for this round. Next up, of course, "R".

There are tons of "R" breweries to pick from. Stay tuned on Sheppy's Blog: A to Z and you'll find out what we picked.
If you want to guess ... it will probably be one of the breweries on the Colorado Brewery List.
