FYI ... the Triple Bypass Ride is a bike ride. I am not signing up for heart surgery.
I've been a little surprised how many people thought I was having surgery.
Anyway ... this past weekend, I did another "training ride".
Littleton to Silver Plume was 6:05 hours of riding time, and a total of 73 miles with 8,458 feet elevation gain.
My unofficial target for the Triple Bypass is to finish the 118 miles and 10,800 feet climbed in 10 hours. The rides I've done give me confidence that I'll be able to do that.
As long as I can stay healthy and my bike holds together, I really like my chances.
Saturday's Ride was very similar to the ride I did in the More Training for Triple Bypass blog post.
I started at my house in Littleton a little before sunrise, and climbed to Evergreen to the start of the Triple Bypass route.
Then, I climbed up the first pass of the Triple Bypass, and looped down into Idaho Springs.
Then, I did the slight climb from Idaho Springs to Georgetown.
Unlike More Training for Triple Bypass, I went past Georgetown, up a little past a little town call Silver Plume.
I probably would have gone a little further, but there was some sort of run/walk going on the bike path west of Georgetown.
Navigating that crowd slowed me down, and The Beer Model and I had agreed to meet around noon at Cabin Creek Brewing, so I had to turn around a little before I would have otherwise.
I suppose it was good practice for navigating among multiple people like I'll have to during the actual bike ride.
Even though I cut my ride a little short, I still accomplished my goal for the ride, so it's all good.
My spreadsheet says I should have done at least one 8,400 feet ride by this time in my training. And I did that. (NOTE ... I modified the spreadsheet since I posted numbers in Training for Triple Bypass)
After getting a little past Silver Plume, I came back down through runners/walkers to Cabin Creek Brewing.
The Beer Model and I arrived almost exactly at the same time, just before noon.
We had lunch and a couple of beers. Then, we drove back home from Georgetown.
Cabin Creek Brewing is becoming one of our favorite restaurants.
So ... I'm feeling pretty good about being prepared for the Triple Bypass Ride. When this post publishes, the ride will be just over 2 weeks away. I'll probably get one more big "training ride" in before the actual event.
Keep an eye on Sheppy's Blog: Triple Bypass to see how that goes.
