On Track for #10Everestsin2022

It is only about a month before I start riding for the 2022 Great Cycle Challenge to help fight kid's cancer.

I'm pledging to ride 1000 miles in September and asking sponsors to donate money to the Children's Cancer Research Fund, which is a national nonprofit dedicated to ending childhood cancer.

I've been doing this since 2016, and in total I've raised over $15,000 thanks to generous friends and family.

I'm hoping to raise $2500 this year. Right now I'm at $931.50. Most of most my most generous past donors have not donated yet, so $2500 is certainly likely.

As you may know if you follow the blog, I have cycling goals in Strava. I am aiming for #5000MilesIn2022 and #10Everestsin2022 (290,320 feet elevation gain).

Early in the year, I was behind those goals, but back May / June, I caught up to being on track.

Then, in June I had a minor medical procedure that kept me off the bike for a few weeks, and I fell behind again.

I caught up with the #5000MilesIn2022 goal recently, and as I type this, I've caught back up with the #10Everestsin2022 goal.

So far, I've climbed 167,231 feet in 2022, which is 5.76 Everests and puts me just ahead of where I need to be today to be on track for 290,320 feet by the end of the year.

As long as the bike and my body both stay healthy, I shouldn't get behind any more this year.

I've also managed to get at least one "Metric Century Ride" each month (100km or 62.2 miles). So, the #MetricCenturyEveryMonth goal is also in play.

I'm sure I'll post more on this over the next month, and certain in September when I do my 1000 miles for the Great Cycle Challenge.
