I brewed 6 batches in each of Q1 and Q2. I keep saying that I'll start to slow down ... but again ... I brewed 6 batches in Q3.
For what it is worth, in July I brewed 3 batches. 2 batches in August. I only brewed 1 batch in September. So, I am sort of slowing down I guess.
The recipes I brewed in Q3 were:
- Hail Storm Summer Saison
- Gypsy Magic Bière de Garde
- Helles Won't Kellerbier
- Steamacularly Common
- Buckwheat's Belgium Pale Ale
- Shoddy IPA
Hail Storm (after a hail storm) |
Those 6 batches resulted in 30 gallons of beer for a total of 93 gallons so far in 2023. I'm on track for 126 gallons by the end of the year.
Last year, my total was 120 gallons, but I still maintain that I'll end up the end of the year with less brewed gallons than last year.
I guess we'll see.
Gypsy Magic Bière de Garde |
Only 1 of the batches was a lager (Helles Won't), although you might consider Gypsy Magic and Steamacularly Common sort of lager-like.
So, for the year, I've brewed only 5 lagers so far. I hope to brew a few more in Q4.
Helles Won't Kellerbier |
I brewed Buckwheat's Belgium Pale Ale with the SheppyBrew Beer Model, so I don't have to worry about being illegal with the amount of beer we've brewed in 2023.
All the beers I brewed this quarter were all-grain at my home on the Anvil Foundry.
Helles Won't and Buckwheat's BPA were pressure fermented and went fine, but I'm really not sure I'll do many more of these pressure fermented beers.
Steamacularly Common |
I did a few Roll-a-Style beers (Gypsy Magic, Helles Won't, Shoddy IPA), which is fun. I like using this to knock off some of the styles I've never brewed before.
In Q4, I know I'll want to brew my Autumn Saison. Of course, I'll have to brew my annual X-Mas Ale. I'd like to brew a hoppy pilsner or two. I think I'll brew the Kentucky Common.
Buckwheat's Belgium Pale Ale |
Maybe, my brewing total will not be less than last year.
I guess we'll see.
