2023 Q2 Brewing Stats

As I type this, there are still a few days left in Q2 of 2023, but I am not going to brew again this month, so I can actually get my SheppyBrew Brewing Stats for the quarter in.

You may remember that Q1 was a busy brewing quarter, and this quarter was basically just as busy.

I keep saying I'll slow down to get a more reasonable total in 2023, but so far I have not managed to slow down very much at all.

My excuse this quarter was that my youngest son graduated high school and I needed beer for various family members to consume for our celebrations.

Regardless of the reason, I brewed another 6 batches of beer in Q2, matching my Q1 total and bring my total for the year up to 12 batches of beer.

Captain Serious Pilsner

Those 6 batches of beer totaled about 31 gallons, bringing my 2023 total to 61 total for the year, putting me on pace for over 120 gallons, which is about what I brewed last year.

I swear ... I'll slow down.

Of the 6 batches, 3 have been completely new recipes (Captain Serious PilsnerTafel Mystère Belgian SingleAlpine Tundra IPA). This is a total of 7 new recipes so far in 2023.

Summer Lovin' American Wheat brew day

2 of these batches have been lagers (Captain Serious Pilsner and T.Ra.Sh. Light Mexican Lager), making my total for the year 4.

I served a lot of these to other people, mostly family visiting for my son's graduation celebrations, so I certainly didn't drink a high percentage of these beers. This means I'm going to have to brew a couple of these again so I can more of them.

T.Ra.Sh. Light Mexican Lager

All of these beers have been "all grain" and all but one of them was brewed in my Foundry (Summer Lovin' was brewed at my friend "Doc's" brewery in the old mash tun / propane burner set up)

As I mentioned in  Q1, I brewed more Pressure Fermented lagers. I'd really like to do two batches of Captain Serious where I compare it Pressure Fermented vs the "traditional" lager cooled method.

Tafel Mystère Belgian Single

I'm really not high on the whole pressure fermentation thing so far.

I know that I'll need to brew Hail Storm Summer Saison soon. That will probably be my next beer.

As I mentioned in SheppyBrew Roll-a-Style, I'd like to start knocking out some BJCP Styles that I have not brewed.

Other than that, you'll just have to stay tuned to see what happens.
